Songbirds :)

Being in a romantic relationship with another human being is different from any other relationships we have. We are each separate entities developing ourselves and exploring different avenues, maybe sometimes the same avenues. But the thing to remember is that we do not "own" or "possess" one another. Many of us have these deep rooted ties to attachment and the feeling of "having" something. Sometimes I will joke with my boyfriend about the cute waitress that appeared to be flirting with him at dinner. Foolishly I say, "You know, if it is what you want, you can leave me for her. The cage door is always open..."   We are like songbirds; Always wanting to be free to have the opportunity to sing our songs. But when the songbird attracts the right mate for him by singing his true song, his partner is for life. Songbirds are monogamous. So in this, the cage door is always open. When a songbird is free, the songbird is found, not lost.

Coming full circle, the cage is a construct created by man. Birds were never meant to be caged and neither were we. :)
